Eldritch Dyson Seal

Imagine a monstrous, demonic beast made of dark clouds and plasma. Swirling masses of color that reach out and destroy anything passing too close. The size of an entire moon, moving through space on its own, finding more and more inhabited planets to consume. A danger to solar systems. A danger to entire galaxies, wiping out every atom of matter it can absorb and only gaining more power as it does so.

Where did it come from? Perhaps this eldritch abomination has been a part of reality since its very beginning. Perhaps it was created as a weapon. Maybe it was created to destroy an enemy nation, but it went so out of control that it destroyed the creators as well – and then far more lives than they ever dreamed of.

After trillions of deaths, it finally gets the attention of a more advanced species. A species far beyond us, almost so technologically advanced that it would seem like magic to human eyes. These aliens don’t tolerate such a virus in the universe. They’re morally above destroying it, however; instead, they encase it in a dyson sphere. Unmoving, totally encased. Forever imprisoned. And here it stays, a sight to see for anyone else in the universe who stumbles upon it.

This is a bit of that view. Here’s a small portion of it at full resolution:
